Meeting called to order at 6:09 PM by Commodore Joe Owens. All members of the board in attendance. Meeting began by reviewing the minutes from March meeting. Randy Baker made a motion that the minutes be accepted as written. Brian Horner seconded, unanimous vote to accept minutes.
Discussion opened about membership event… Kenton suggested that we make an effort to introduce members and board possibly getting peel and stick name tags. Commodore might wear a hat to be recognizable. Board members make an effort at the next couple of events to make introductions.
Treasury report
Treasurer Kay Owens reports that there are 34 new members now totaling 49. $406.46 was spent for the membership drive event. The current bank account balance is $3,597.35. There is a $1000 minimum for the account $1000 was donated by Max Nigh in his bequeathment.
Media captains report
New email notification distribution for 2026 members. Possible email contact with 2025 members to encourage
Membership renewals. Randy Baker suggested that Chuck Brown act as a consultant … further discussion of hiring Chuck ,who has created a weather website for Greers ferry Lake.

Old business
Discussion of having T-shirts, hats and visors created to promote the yacht club. Patsy Conrey is local and provides this service as well as embroidery.

New business
The boat launch in the courtesy tie up area has been cited by code enforcement to be replaced by the end of 2026 according to Dallas with The City Of Fairfield Bay code enforcement . The cost will be $15,000 Advertising and Promotion will donate $5,000 towards the replacement. Rose has asked that the Yacht Club have a fundraiser to help pay for this Dock. The Marina is trying to attract fishing tourism. The swimming area is too close to the launch area and there is limited parking Randy motioned that we table that discussion and Kenton seconded.
Open discussion of how to use the $1.000 bequeathment from Max Nigh.
Possibilities include a memorial bench, a regatta, a memorial flag pole at the Dock/Marina,picnic tables with umbrellas, possibly use the money for the roof on the party barge or fans for the Dock area. Also discussion of arranging a dedication service of appreciation to make membership aware of Max Nigh’s donation.
New business
This Fourth of July will be the 250th anniversary of the USA and the Yacht Club could participate by a boat parade on the fourth. Pros and cons discussed of adding more events on the fourth.
Boatie gras could be replaced with the barge trip. Pat made a motion that on the 25th of April the Yacht Club sponsor a barge trip with a Mexican potluck.BYOB and a dish… free to members $10 per guest. Joe will make the Marina reservations.

Old Business
Chili Cookoff-Good feedback on event. VFW pleased with bar sales. Event generated $189.24 with 85 in attendance and 14 competitors.
Current Balance in Treasury $2,381.56
2026 calendars of events was distributed and events discussed
The Horners, as media captains, discussed FB page and being mutually supportive with othe FFB event pages. All officer pictures have been uploaded to the website. An Inquiry was made to post membership drive information on the City digital sign, but no response has been received.
Kathy contacted Taylor Smith about updating the website.
Open discussion on whose names are on the Yacht Club ownership
Kathy Horner suggested that all members be emailed with membership information

New Business
Last years membership drive came in under budget at $400. Kay Owens suggested a charcuterie board table be set for the event. Randy made a motion of agreement and suggested a budget of $450.Kathy Horner seconded and the vote passed. In the event the Marina roof is not installed the barge may be an alternative.
Shopping List for event box wine, bottled water,
Event will be 3-6 PM, set up at 2:30.
Kathy will prepare flyers to distribute and promote to friends.
