Year of 2020

Membership Drive 2020:

The weather forecast looks great for Saturday, June 6th, from 3 to 5 for the annual membership drive. We already have 40 members so join us in the open air pavilion that's located on the Fairfield Bay marina parking lot. Look for the Club's flag and banner and enjoy the meat and cheese platters, a glass of wine or other drinks, and share your thoughts about the events the Club has planned. Some on the water, some not. Some on Saturday, some not.

Plans for 2020:

Saturday, June 27 @ 4pm- Blessing of the Fleet, at the marina.  BYOB and a dish to pass.

Details for entry fees and prizes published prior to Poker and Scavenger Events

Blessing of the Fleet 2020:

The dust from Africa was so bad it looked like showers coming. Just look at the pictures. The wind blew making the lake rough and only three boats came but were blessed by Reverend Robert Hadley. Some food and drinks and visiting with friends made for a good day. Commodore Alexander won the 50-50 and 4 lucky members won drawings for prizes.

Scavenger Hunt 2020:

Thanks to the marina for the ice, use of the Veteran's Barge, and the $60 prize certificates awarded to the team lead by Jane Dean and Mary Mills with a winning score of 55 points. Thanks to David and Terril Byard for the cold drinks and chips and the ladies that brought a dish. Mike Dean won the 50-50 drawing and donated his winnings to the club. Join now because these events have been free. We still have the Martini Event and the Bloody Mary Event which are free. Gregory is doing a great job and could use a Vice Commodore. The Poker Run Event next month will start at 9 a.m.

Event Changes of 2020:

Only two more major events planned this year. The Harvest Moonlight Martini event starts at 5 on October 1st at the Fairfield Bay Marina. This is free to members and a yes or a no will be required. Text and emails will be sent soon so we can determine how many members will attend. Non members need to join.

The Christmas event is scheduled for December 12th at The Little Red Restaurant. Tickets will be sold in advance. We always try to provide a $20 meal and tip for $10 a member and the club pays the rest. Menu will be determined soon.

Poker Float 2020:

Yacht Club members only event starts at noon from the Veterans Barge. Ask a dock hand if you need help opening the gate. Entry fee is $10 a hand and you must RSVP. Half the pot is given for the best hand and half for the worst hand. A five card stud poker hand can be drawn by a non-boater by drawing only five cards. If you collect seven certificates from the lake by boat, you can draw seven cards but can only play your five best to make a hand. The more players, the larger the pot. Contest ends at 1:30. RSVP to Gregory at 501-654-4337.

Results, There were members asking what was happening and past members wanted to play yet did not want to join. Though there was not a lot of members playing, we had a good time, and it was profitable for Mary Mills who won the best hand  and Mike Dean that won with the worst hand. People say to me," I was a member last year and I only did one thing, so I am not joining this year". The board of directors are doing something every month.
