The Fairfield Bay Yacht Club is proud to announce the installation of a new weather station at the Fairfield Bay Marina!
This state-of-the-art weather station provides valuable, real-time information for everyone who enjoys Greers Ferry Lake—whether you’re boating, fishing, kayaking, or simply spending the day on the water. The easy-to-read dashboard includes current weather conditions, air temperature, lake water temperature, wind speed and direction, and much more to help you plan a safe and enjoyable day on the lake.
This exciting new community resource was made possible through a generous donation by the family of Max Nigh, a founding member and Past Commodore of the FFB Yacht Club. Max’s love for boating, the Yacht Club, and the Fairfield Bay community made this a fitting tribute to his legacy. We are deeply grateful to the Nigh family for their thoughtful gift, which will benefit our members, the community and visitors to Greers Ferry Lake for years to come.
A special thank you also goes to the dedicated team that brought this project to life:
Chuck Brown for designing and developing the weather station system.
Randy Baker and Jorn Holt for installing the equipment at the Fairfield Bay Marina.
Kenton Brown for integrating the Weather Station link into the Fairfield Bay Yacht Club website, making it easy for everyone to access.
To view the weather station, click on the QR Code below or visit fairfieldbayyachtclub.com and click the Weather Station link in the upper left-hand corner of the homepage.
We encourage everyone to check the weather station before heading out on Greers Ferry Lake. It’s another way the Fairfield Bay Yacht Club is helping promote safe and enjoyable recreation on Greers Ferry Lake. It’s a valuable new resource that will help make every day on the water safer and more enjoyable.
From honoring Max Nigh's legacy, to the volunteers who donated their time and expertise, this project is a wonderful example of what can be accomplished when people come together for the benefit of our community. Thank you to the Nigh family and everyone who helped make this lasting gift possible.

Fairfield Bay Yacht Club
The Fairfield Bay Yacht Club is the is the Fairfield Bay Chamber of Commerce featured member this week. The Club is excited to be celebrating their 38th anniversary this year. Founded in 1988, with the purpose to encourage and promote the expanded use of our boats, the Marina facilities and the vast waters of Greers Ferry Lake, currently 77 members enjoy the club.
The Club hosts several events throughout the year. These events are designed for members to explore different areas of the lake and to provide social interaction. A scavenger hunt, poker run, and run for the cold require “traveling” the lake. Additional events, Chili Cook Off, Lake Clean Up, Martini Party, Barge trip, Fall Color tour, and several tie ups through-out the lake season provide a fun way to interact with each other and meet new people. The Commodore’s Ball is a fun year-end event highlighting the years activities and installation of new officers. The club also enjoys participating and assisting in several community events. Boati Gras, the 4th Of July parade, Surf the Bay and Women on the Water. The Club also donated three large fans for installation at the marina, and an annual lake area clean-up improves the environment at Greers Ferry Lake.
The Club is proud to be a member of the Fairfield Bay Chamber of Commerce. The chamber is helpful in promoting and advertising the many Club events. Be on the lookout for more information for the 2nd annual Club Chili Cook Off scheduled for January 31st at the VFW. You won’t want to miss sampling and voting on your favorite chili. Anyone can enter their chili into the contest for a chance to win prize money and the trophy for the 1st place winner. The membership drive will follow the chili cook off. Cost to join is $20 per person. What a bargain for so much fun, meeting new people and appreciating one of the communities’ greatest assets…THE LAKE! Most importantly, boat ownership is not a requirement to join. There is always room for you on the numerous boats participating in each activity.
Get on board as we embark on a new year of wave making.
